Elektryków – Gdańsk, Poland
Located in the very heart of the historic Gdańsk Shipyard, Elektryków Street is more than just a party hotspot on the Tri-City map. It is a vibrant, post-industrial microcosm where the raw heritage of the Polish shipbuilding industry clashes with the freshest sounds of electronic and alternative music.
As you pass through the gates of this monumental complex, you step into a completely different world an open space dominated by rusty cranes, where the night is lit up by now-iconic neon signs and the sharp flashes of strobe lights. It is a place whose atmosphere unapologetically draws on the finest Berlin and London underground traditions, whilst retaining its own unique, dockland character.
Unlike traditional clubs confined within four walls, Elektryków is a living, constantly evolving organism. This space skilfully combines the grandeur of legendary, vast concert halls, such as B90 or Drizzly Grizzly, with the unbridled freedom of open-air parties. During the summer season, the heart of the action spills seamlessly out onto the concrete street and the neighbouring Plener 33. There, surrounded by brick walls and metal shipping containers, heavy bass vibrates through the air until the early hours. The industrial architecture here isn’t just a pretty backdrop it helps shape the place. The sound, driven by powerful and carefully selected sound systems, hits with immense force, whilst laser beams cutting through the darkness and geometric light installations create a dense, at times downright cyberpunk atmosphere.
However, what ultimately defines Ulica Elektryków is not just the superb acoustics or the impressive set design, but above all its audience and its incredible, authentic ‘vibe’. It is a space that breathes freedom, openness and inclusivity. You won’t find any artificial glitz, pretentiousness or a strict dress code here. Eclecticism reigns supreme on the dance floor dark, technical black mixes with laid-back streetwear, and the only ticket to a good time is a love of music. During the day, the same venue functions as a bustling cultural hub with excellent food from W4 Food Squat, vinyl markets and independent art, before drawing the crowd back into its pulsating electronic rhythm once darkness falls. Elektryków is an oasis for all those who seek truth and raw, unfiltered emotions in the world of music.
