ZEROZERO – We want to let people know that the future is now.

Having the chance to meet them all those lifting years, with their selection that resonates on a level that feels almost post-human, seamlessly transcending the organic and the synthetic. Regardless of which event we catch them at, their fullest has the potential to captivate an ever-growing audience waiting to be discovered.

It’s interesting how collectives get along—a group of people drawn together by the same deep passion for music, yet somehow they manage to push beyond the ordinary. We follow them, and their energy, somehow when they gather, it’s not just music; it feels more like a complex interplay of rhythms that messes with your mind, the way it’s done to us so many times at their parties. The track selection is easily one of the most thought-provoking we’ve come across. Thus, Zerozero remains number one in inspiration and recommendation across everybody’s path.

Hey ya’all, How did Zerozero come together, and what was the driving vision behind forming the collective? Who are the six members, and what do each of you bring to the table?

ZEROZERO became a thing the moment we all met at F141’s flat. We were all tired of the status quo of the music being served at the clubs. Lack of originality, variety and freshness motivated us to make some moves and create a collective which would promote fresh, leftfield and varied music. zerozero is composed of DJs and producers such as us (unspecified and Donija), F141, Breja, Fomma and Cancel. All of us have a unique style when it comes to deejaying.

Do you have any exciting upcoming projects, collaborations, or releases that you can share?

We won’t say much for now, but we invite all of you to keep tabs on our socials and SoundCloud.

Ok, we can’t wait for it. Then, Could you give us a glimpse into who you are outside of music? What are your other interests, and how do they influence your creative process?

We are all very interested in culture as a whole, and we all have our own hobbies, which without a doubt have a strong influence on the aesthetics that we present during our sets. Me and Donija are very much into asian culture, manga and anime, sci-fi and cyberpunk, basically, we and Cancel are huge nerds. Fomma is a professional dancer, and his performances are really emotional and expressive, very punk, and I think you can hear it also when he is behind the decks. F141 is obsessed with the mathematics of sound. Breja comes from a skater background, which shaped his hood style. I am also a huge gamer, and we take a lot of inspiration from the pop culture that we ingest.

Your performances often feel like they transcend music—what’s the one takeaway or emotion you hope people experience after seeing you perform?

We want to help the audience expand their horizons when it comes to experiencing music, we want them to open their minds to some more eclectic and more leftfield sound. We want the audience to hear something they haven’t heard before, and feel something different, experience something that would stay with them, had an impact on their perception of what is club music

I’m curious about the use of Korean script in your branding. Is there a story or concept behind it? What inspired that connection, and does it play a role in your music or identity as a collective?

Korean writing is aesthetically pleasing, that is the reason we chose to write our “motto” in this particular language.

Donija released the first one and only solo EP: Halabarda! Can you share more about it?

It’s already out on SPLOT, so we invite ya’ll to check it out. It might surprise you with the variety and complexity of the sound that it presents.

Solarpunk is an alias we’ve followed closely. How did it evolve before Zerozero, and how does it continue to exist alongside the collective?

Solarpunk is a project that pushed the genre boundaries on our scene. We made some space for this kind of music. From the moment we decided to create this project, we had huge ambitions to continue with this mission. We can say that Solarpunk was in a way, a smaller version of zerozero, because we had the same thing in mind, that we all have now, under the banner of our collective.

If you could pick five tracks to share with us right now.

We would like to invite you guys to check out our playlist on Spotify, full of stuff from our selektas.

You recently hosted Otik at one of your events. Why did you choose him specifically, and what made the connection meaningful for you?

Falling Forward is a track that connected us, me and Tymek(Donija), and because of that, we became what we are right now. His music was very inspiring for us, especially his early works. The other reason was that he is a big name in the alternative electronic music game, and has never been invited to Poland before. We decided we wanted to make some noise with our first event, and he was the perfect fit.

Zerozero is known for its interplay of organic and synthetic sounds. How do you approach creating that post-human vibe? Is it intentional, or does it emerge naturally from your individual styles?

It’s not that we are trying to create a post-human vibe. This is our lens through which we perceive our reality. We live in a world which constantly bombards our brains with dopamine-inducing stimuli, through a technology that exploits our nature. We are music nerds that exist in a time where through the internet the concept of a genre is very diluted, almost unnecessary, because all the sounds are fusing together. We want to express that. We strive to extract the essence of what makes some sounds unique in the vast ocean of unimaginative shit. We want to let people know that the future is now.
