Surowiec was founded in the Ruska 46A complex, one of the most important centers of independent culture in Wrocław. From the outset, it wasn’t a classic techno club, but a hybrid of club, gallery, bar, and social space. Its creators described the venue as an “enclave of modern urban culture,” combining music, art, social activities, and nightlife.
History
Surowiec launched around 2018 in a courtyard at Ruska 46A, which was already a key point on the city’s alternative scene. From the outset, it emphasized openness, independent culture, and events that went beyond the standard music club model. Unlike venues focused solely on electronic music, Surowiec developed as a multifunctional space: concert, exhibition, club, social.
What made Surowiec stand out?
The venue’s greatest strength was its diverse programming. In a single week, the following could take place: alternative concerts, house and techno parties, drag shows, exhibitions, and artistic activities.
This allowed Surowiec to attract not only clubbers but also artists, students, and individuals involved in queer culture and the broader creative community.

Surowiec played a significant role in the development of the Ruska 46A complex as a center of independent culture.
