Hala Odra is one of Szczecin’s most interesting post-industrial revitalization projects. Located in Kępa Parnicka, on the Oder River, it transformed a former industrial port space into a multifunctional center for gastronomy, culture, and nightlife. Today, it is a symbol of the city’s revitalizing waterfront.
The project was announced in 2021 as a place combining gastronomy, culture, and social events. From the outset, it was envisioned as more than a food court – the space was intended to bring residents together around concerts, fairs, workshops, and outdoor events. Numerous dining concepts, bars, and event zones have been created within the facility.
Industrial Character
One of Hala Odra’s greatest advantages is its location. The facility was built in a former port and industrial space on Maurycy Beniowski Boulevard. Containers, steel structures, pallets, and the raw architecture have been preserved as part of the site’s identity. It is this industrial atmosphere that has often led visitors to compare Hala Odra to similar projects in Berlin and Hamburg.
Culture and Music
Since its opening, Hala Odra has consistently expanded its event program. Concerts, design fairs, workshops, stand-up comedy, family events, and club nights are held here. In recent years, the space has also become a meeting place for local music collectives and electronic event organizers.
Unlike traditional music clubs, Hala Odra functions as an open urban space. During the day, it serves as a waterfront gathering place, and in the evenings, it transforms into a hub of events and nightlife.
Significance for Szczecin
Hala Odra is one of the most visible examples of the transformation of Szczecin’s waterfront. It has helped to restore to residents some of the areas that were previously associated primarily with port and industrial activity. Thanks to its combination of restaurants, culture, and recreation, it has become a significant landmark on the city’s contemporary map.
