Moby

Moby, actually Richard Malville Hall is an American artist valued all over the world. His songs have won millions of hearts and he is as interesting as the music he creates. So let’s take a moment to get acquainted with his person.

Richard received his nickname already in childhood and it is not accidental. The nickname “Moby” comes from the title of the famous novel by Herman Melville “Moby Dick”, to which the artist is related.

It is worth knowing that Moby is not only a musician and composer, but also a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. He uses all his skills of playing keyboards, electric and bass guitar as well as drums to create more and more interesting compositions. His style is a mixture of elements of disco, techno, pop, dance, ambient, punk guitars and elements more associated with soundtracks.

Moby’s latest, 11th album was released at the end of September 2013. Innocents – because that is the title of this album – is another proof of the artist’s unconventionality. Innocents doesn’t bring any chart-scale songs to Moby’s discography, but that was the point. Unhurried, devoid of the element of hits, intimate and muted music – is addressed to the title “innocents” who have to function in such and not other times.

Below is the song A Case For Shame promoting the album Innocents.

In Richard’s works there is also a place to express his view on the consumption of meat. Listening to the song Disco Lies, which was on the album Last Night released in 2008, it is difficult at first to associate that the words “you said you love me – that was just a lie , you said you need me – that was just a lie” is spoken by a chicken. The matter is more explained by the music video and certainly the fact that Moby is simply vegan.

Moby is an artist who shares with others what he saw, heard or performed. Thanks to this, he became close to his fans, who appreciate him not only for his music, but also for his openness to other people. He runs blogs, participates in many social networks, where he posts photos taken by himself, and shares recent experiences. As he says, his passion for photography appeared from an early age. The latest series of photos he posts on Facebook shows the architecture of Los Angeles. In the pictures he immortalized original architectural solutions and shares his insights. So if your list doesn’t include Moby’s pieces, it’s worth visiting his photoblog. The photos may not have a special artistic value, but they present one of the most interesting cities in the world in a personal way, resulting from a sincere interest in architecture.

What does Moby himself say about this? See for yourself.

It is obvious that this American artist will surprise more than once. Although there are elements in his work that are clearly repeated – which makes it easy to recognize that it is him – each time he introduces new sounds, which creates original compositions. Every freshness he brings to electronic music can be conveyed in style.
