DEAS returns with the 7th EP on his own imprint BAUMUZIK

Deas – the wonder child of techno, the “analogue gear freak” , the owner of his Bauhaus -inspired label called Bau Muzik. He’s a multitalented artist, curator, performer and self-confessed ‘machine freak’, who has released records for such labels as CLR, Planet Rhythm, Dynamic Reflection.

His tracks are often tested on live audiences by top figures in the techno scene, including Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing and Luke Slater.

Overall Deas knows what “the real techno groove” is all about and due to his unwavering musical intuition, he’s leading his audience exactly where he wants, no matter where he performs. Apart from festivals like Awakenings, Extrema, Dockyard, Audioriver, and Opener, he regularly performs at top clubs, including E1 London, Melkweg, Compass, and Audio Geneva, igniting dance floors worldwide, from Latin America to the Far East of Asia.

In 2021, he went the next artistic step forward: he set up his own label called Bau Muzik, whose releases are distributed by Rotterdam-based Triple Vision (this label also distributes records by Mord, ARTS or Dax J’s Monnom Black). Deas came up with the idea of starting his own label even some years before, when he started making more music and expanded his circle of interests. It was also supposed to be a platform to showcase both his own material, but also releases from other artists. However, he had to wait for the right moment. And 2021 was the perfect timing.
The label’s concept is a complete work: focusing not only on music, but also on art. This interdisciplinarity has a dimension in the quality of music that Bau Muzik offers in its catalog, and in the graphic aesthetics in which the artwork are served. This is because the idea for the label’s graphic identity has roots in pre- war art and architecture – it is inspired by the Weimar school of

architecture and design, or one of the factions of modernism – the Bauhaus style. The Bauhaus idea was something that has long corresponded strongly with techno music in my personal opinion. Art “not just for art’s sake,” but fulfilling the aspect of usefulness, are ideals that overexpose the origins of the Weimar school of design and are, in my opinion, identical to the techno philosophy. I am very pleased that in collaboration with Tom Gawronski we were also able to create graphically a very coherent and interesting project. The simplicity, functionalism and minimalism that characterize the Bauhaus, found expression in the graphic design of Bau Muzik’s Records. “ I don’t do music and think in a standard way when it comes to being an artist. Despite my extraverted character, I spend most of the time alone in the studio. All I have there are machines, and interacting with them turns into fascinating conversations. My music is only the side effect of those.” Bau Muzik’s latest release ( to be premiered on 31.01.2025) is its signature number seven called “Basics EP”. And as simple as its title sounds, the four tracks on it have equally
simple, basic names, which are de facto colours – naturally referring to
Bauhaus.

The whole thing kicks off with the 6-minute, extremely dynamic track
Red, which – as the title suggests – will light any dance floor on fire. This is a classic, peaktime techno with the mark of the highest quality. Black is the second track on the A side: it has a darker, more complex structure. The rhythmic loops and rushing beat structure will not let you rest on the dance floor. Meanwhile, Yellow is a powerful, bass-heavy, deep-toned production that will sound great on warehouse, dusty dancefloors and festivals. EP finishes with the track called Blue, which crowns the whole thing and is an equally strong element of the whole record. Driven by expressive hi-hats and a strong, catchy bassline, the track is sure to make many DJs’ top 10 lists.
