Cl. 64 #13-09 – Bogotá, Colombia
Video Club is one of the central meeting points of Bogotá’s contemporary electronic music scene. Located at Calle 64 #13-09 in Chapinero, the club opened in 2016 and developed around a relatively simple idea: a compact space, strong sound and programming that connects international electronic music with Colombia’s increasingly active local scene.
Two Sides of Bogotá
Video Club is divided into several contrasting spaces. Its darker main dancefloor is primarily associated with house, techno, electro and more experimental club music, while the other areas have traditionally allowed a much broader selection ranging from disco and funk to salsa, cumbia, champeta and Afro-Latin sounds. A terrace provides another, more social counterpoint to the enclosed dancefloors.
This mixture is important to the club’s identity. Rather than attempting to reproduce a European techno club in Colombia, Video Club reflects Bogotá itself: electronic music exists alongside Latin American rhythms, local DJ culture and a growing network of independent labels and collectives.
Over its first decade, the club hosted artists including Pangaea, Call Super, OK Williams, Interstellar Funk, Tomas Urquieta and Verraco, while residents and Colombian selectors remained fundamental to the programme. Events regularly give entire nights to local labels and collectives rather than treating them simply as support for international headliners.
Chapinero
The location places Video Club within Chapinero, one of Bogotá’s principal nightlife and cultural districts. Bars, restaurants, queer venues, independent cultural spaces and electronic clubs coexist throughout the neighbourhood, making it an important centre for the city’s younger creative communities.
Video Club fits naturally into this environment. It is relatively small, informal and centred on dancing rather than VIP nightlife. Its scale also allows international DJs to perform in a considerably more intimate setting than the festivals and large events that have become increasingly common in Bogotá.
Ten Years
In September 2026, Video Club celebrated its tenth anniversary with two nights representing both sides of its identity. German producer and DJ Polygonia headlined the first, while the second was deliberately titled Pasado, Presente, Futuro and brought together local artists including Aguirre, Brenda., Didacta, Julian Gomez, Odds N Ends, Ritornelo, Sophyaa and Surfer Rosa.
The anniversary captured what has allowed the club to survive for a decade. Video Club participates in the international electronic circuit, but its identity remains closely connected to Bogotá.
In a city whose techno and electronic scene has expanded dramatically over the last decade, Video Club has become one of the small institutions that helped make that growth possible.
