The Fifth Element

According to the Turbo concept, the fifth element is simply man. But how? After all, in the face of the mighty forces of nature, we are nothing. Everything changes when we listen to the new album of the Poznań group, recognized over the years. We quickly learn that it is not physical conditions that determine power, but verbal communication.

"Fifth Element" is the latest release under the Turbo label. The musicians present an album that can be easily compared to the first and best full-length achievements of the group, such as "Smak Ciszy" or "Kawaleria TSatan". This is confirmed by melodic songs, accompanied by excellent guitar passages in the spirit of early Iron Maiden. The whole sounds at the same time strong, natural, current, but also with respect for tradition.

"… there is nothing but truth on the album, there are live drums, fantastic and true sounding instruments, and thanks to the brilliant skills of Przemek (Wejmann, who is the producer of the album – editor's note) all this truth sounds extremely juicy and does not stand out from modern productions. In my opinion, the desire to increase the sound and readability that we deal with in contemporary productions kills what is most important in music, i.e. emotions. That is why I am a supporter of the most natural, even raw sounds. For example, if I listen to my acoustic guitar on the last track, and in a moment I pick it up, sit in the middle of the room and play, I will hear the same sound."

Informs the vocalist of Turbo, Tomasz Struszczyk. And right. The sound of the instruments is perfect and flawless. However, there is something to complain about. The album contains much too quiet vocal parts. However, this is supposedly a planned and well-thought-out step.

"… Metal music is not sung poetry, in which the background music is only the background for the "soloist". There must be energy and – as we call it in the metal world – "solder". And this can easily be squandered by exposing the vocals too strongly. So the principle is simple, the vocal parts must be placed so that the text is understandable and legible, and with this on the "Fifth Element", it seems to me that there is no problem."

– Tomek quickly explains. If this was really intentional, I have no more questions. There is nothing else for me to do but highly recommend you the latest Turbo album. There is a lot to listen to!
