K41

Kyrylivska 41 – Kyiv, Ukraine

Known as K41, Kyrylivska 41 or ∄, the place has become one of the most important underground electronic music spaces in Eastern Europe and a defining symbol of Kyiv’s contemporary rave culture. Located inside a renovated 19th-century brewery in the Podil district, the club opened in 2019 and quickly gained a reputation for its raw industrial architecture, powerful sound system and uncompromising approach to club culture.

The club’s name — the mathematical symbol “∄”, meaning “does not exist” — reflects its philosophy of creating an immersive, almost hidden world separated from everyday reality. Locals usually refer to it simply as K41, after its address on Kyrylivska Street. A strict no-photo policy, taped phone cameras and selective door policy are central parts of the experience, emphasizing presence, privacy and community over social media visibility.

Architecturally, K41 is often compared to Berlin institutions such as Berghain. The venue was designed with involvement from Studio Karhard, known for projects connected to Berlin’s club scene. The labyrinth-like layout, concrete and brick interiors, staircases and interconnected floors were intentionally created to produce a sense of exploration and spatial immersion.

Musically, K41 focuses on underground electronic music — particularly techno, experimental club music, ambient, breaks and leftfield sounds. Over the years it has hosted a wide range of international and Ukrainian artists while also supporting local residents and the Kyiv underground scene through its label Standard Deviation and community programming.

The club is also widely recognized as one of the most important queer-safe spaces in Ukraine. Its policies explicitly reject racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, helping establish a freer and more inclusive rave culture in Kyiv.
