Today we are talking with Venezuelan Wuifer Márquez, born in the city of Caracas on June 28, 1984, graduated from IUESAPAR “Armando Reveron” with a degree in plastic arts with a mention in “graphic arts”. He tells us part of his artistic experience, enjoy it!
Astrid: What artistic work have you developed throughout your life?
Wuifer: The beginning of my artistic work was with analog photography, then I became interested in engraving and graphic arts in general and these technical processes led me to develop a graphic work through painting (pictography). Although I have also experienced other creative processes.
Astrid: What branch of art do you identify with the most?
Wuifer: Currently I identify more with painting because as I mentioned earlier, the technical processes of engraving and printing led me to solve the work through pictorial work.
Astrid: When was the first time you painted?
Wuifer: I don’t remember when I first painted.
Astrid: Have you participated in events, exhibitions, forums, nationwide? Tell us about that and what artistic work you participated with.
Wuifer: Yes, I have participated in various artistic events. National salons, exhibitions, mural paintings, biennials etc., are exciting experiences of much learning at the organizational and assembly level, in addition to the purpose of sharing our vision with other people.
Astrid: Are you an independent artist or do you develop within a crew or collective?
Wuifer: I’m an independent artist, I’ve done a lot of collaborations but I don’t belong to any crew or artistic group. Nor do I close myself to possibilities.
Astrid: What personal message do you try to project when you express yourself artistically?
Wuifer: I try to project an energy or feelings that are difficult to express in words.
Astrid: Any techniques that you still don’t handle and want to learn?
Wuifer: I would like to learn carpentry and other construction techniques. I think they are good technical complements for my artistic development. As for the technical work.
Astrid: What social impact do you think your work as an artist can have?
Wuifer: I think I can remind society that we also communicate through the image, with signs and symbols. It’s like recreating a visual awareness to rescue our identity.
Astrid: Between digital and manual tools, which is more comfortable for you?
Wuifer: I’m more comfortable with manual processes. I am currently learning digital illustration.
Astrid: Would you do this for the rest of your life?
Wuifer: That’s the idea.
Thanks to Wuifer for allowing me to show a little of his artistic work, for me it is always an honor to be able to connect with wonderful artists and bring this information to readers. I invite you to follow him on his social networks.
