Artificial intelligence (AI) has been the object of interest of many people and corporations for a long time. How to use it in everyday functioning seems to be crucial for the industry to focus even more on development in this area.
For several months, the Internet has been flooded with graphics generated by tools such as DALL-E or Midjourney. And although the effects of these actions are often frighteningly good, each of us has probably also seen completely unsuccessful ones. This shows how untamed artificial intelligence is yet. Every day there are new articles or videos on the web that explain to us how to properly use programs based entirely on AI. And maybe that's a good thing, because after all, to quote the German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, "He who does not go forward, goes backwards."
But can AI also play music? Well, the answer is obvious. Of course they do. There are already programs such as AIVA, SingSong, MusicLM or Soundful, which can generate songs in various genres.
In addition, an extremely interesting tool from Adobe – Adobe Podcast – appeared on the web. The program analyzes our voice, removes reverberation and noise from the recording, and then improves the whole according to learned rules. And although similar programs have been trying to exist for the last few years, only Adobe Podcast seems to be the first one that will work really well.
But what would music be without vocals? Probably good electronics… But now not about that. Vocals generated by artificial intelligence are no longer the future, but the present. The V synthesizer from Dreamtonics is a tool taught many different timbres of voices and vocal articulations in order to be able to generate a realistic human voice. Now all you have to do is enter words (or syllables) for each individual note and voilà, the synthesizer generates us a vocal that will sound more and more natural over time.
Whatever you say, there are really a lot of these programs. Probably a matter of a few weeks or months is the emergence of further tools that will also have a significant impact on the music market. In order to closely observe the development of artificial intelligence in music, we need an organization that will research the topic from the inside out and provide us with the latest information. Of course, matters were taken into his own hands by none other than Wojtek Urbański, an award-winning composer and music producer. As he says, "Dyspensa.AI is the first expert institution and creative agency in Poland dealing comprehensively with the issue of AI in music."
In addition, on the dyspensa.ai website we can read – "As part of the functioning of the Dyspensa.AI, we will undertake activities aimed at popularizing knowledge related to the use of AI in music. Our experts will share information on this topic through the YouTube channel, social media, publications, as well as during conferences where topics related to artificial intelligence will be discussed."
The 7-person team includes m.in Dr. Eng. Mateusz Modrzejewski, an expert in the field of AI in music and a researcher at the Warsaw University of Technology. Mateusz also defended his doctoral thesis entitled. "Artificial Intelligence Solutions for Artistic Multimedia Musical Content Creation Support".
You can hear more about the whole project and music programs based on artificial intelligence in the video below. English subtitles are available.
