Jorge Celis is an artist better known as G-Lingo, born in Cuyagua, Aragua State, Venezuela, born in 1984. He tells us about his great Caribbean fusion with Rap as a cultural expression, I invite you to enjoy it!

Astrid: Since when did you decide to rap?

Jorge: I decided to do Rap as a hobby in 2004 and officially since 2011, actually I did Rap out of a need to channel the problems of my town and the city where I frequent and under an event of two brothers victim of the underworld through the sosure under an environment of corruption and hunger for power of artificial things.

Astrid: What other genres do you like to dabble in?

Jorge: The genres in which I like to venture or fuse are: the drum (folklore), Salsa, Jazz and now what they call AfroBeat but all with a treatment of the essence of the Caribbean at the same time also alternating with Rap themes (bass drum and box).

Astrid: When did you first record?

Jorge: For the first time I recorded a demo in 2004 with a group called ‘Fortaleza Latina’ but officially my first single came out in 2011.

Astrid: How many musical projects have you been in since your inception?

Jorge: The musical projects in which I have participated were since 2011, in several with a band called Petra de Pangea, Grupo Cuyagua, Salsa Orchestra ‘JK Salsa’, Maracay Say Underground, collaboration with three songs about the Central University of Venezuela, themes with two brothers from France and the group ‘Herencia’ among other collaborations of the HipHop genre.

Astrid: When was your first live performance as a solo rapper or with a band?

Jorge: As a rapper in 2005 and official in 2011.

Astrid: What other trades do you have outside of music?

Jorge: I am an audiovisual producer and producer, also a seller of informal sea fish in my town.

Astrid: Any reference artists?

Jorge: I like French Rap and American HipHop, also some from the Caribbean.

Astrid: Have you attended events nationwide?

Jorge: Yes, of course in several states of Venezuela.

Astrid: What is the goal in your lyrics?

Jorge: My goal in my lyrics is to fulfill myself and know me, if someone interprets it in their own way in a self-critical and critical way to build with actions what the content says, even if it seems utopian, but if there are people who are concerned with investigating its root and at the same time enjoy the sound of the drum with HipHop.

Astrid: Would you do this for the rest of your life?

Jorge: At this point I am 38 years old and I think that if, if God and the Universe allows it, I will continue dancing the rhymes through the rhythm with maroon content.

Thank you very much to Jorge for allowing me to talk with him today about his musical work, for me it is always an honor to be able to know about great artists and their work, I invite you to follow him on his social networks.
