Today we are talking with a very complete crew, we recently talked with them about an event they had prepared to be held in Caracas, they are the guys from Skatezuela, I invite you to discover what they bring us!
Where and how Skatezuela was born?
Skatezuela was born in Caracas, Venezuela in 2008.
Raquel Perez, its founder, along with a group of skater friends, decided to create a platform that would bring together the female skater community in Venezuela and promote the sport and culture of skateboarding in the country. But over time this same community would grow and end up covering all categories of skateboarding in the country (female, male, children).
What is the goal of this project?
The main objective of Skatezuela is to promote skateboarding as a sport, a healthy and creative way of life in Venezuela.
In addition, it seeks to promote the culture of urban art and independent music related to skateboarding. Using as a tool the production of musical events, art exhibitions and other expressions of urban culture.
In Skatezuela we work to challenge the negative stereotypes that are often associated with Skateboarding, claiming this discipline to be seen and respected as any sport that is practiced in our country.
What artistic tools do you use within the project?
Within the project, we use artistic tools such as painting on skateboards, urban art exhibitions, and live music concerts.
Tell us about the Skate competitions and exhibitions.
At Skatezuela we organize skateboard competitions and exhibitions for skaters of all ages and skill levels.
We also hold demos and exhibitions at art, music and urban culture events.
What has been the most satisfying experience for Skatezuela?
The most satisfying experience for Skatezuela has been to see how the skate community in Venezuela has grown during all these years, it is very pleasant to be able to give them the opportunity to compete and be awarded by very important brands.
It has also been satisfying to see the statistics of the facebook group where today we are more than 31 thousand people together for the same passion.
Who are the members of this wonderful project?
Skatezuela is made up of a team of skateboarders, event producers, graphic designers and artists who share the passion for skateboarding and urban culture.
In addition, we have the support of sponsors and collaborators who help us to carry out our events and projects.
Would you like to expand internationally?
Of course, we would love to expand internationally and take the Venezuelan skateboarding culture to the rest of the world.
We count on the work being done outside the country by the founder of the project who is currently in the skateboarding capital of the world, Barcelona Spain!
What kind of public attends your events?
Our audience is very diverse, from children and young people who want to learn to skate, to professional skaters and amateurs of all ages.
We also attract lovers of urban art, music and skateboarding culture in general.
Have you collaborated with other artists?
Yes, we have collaborated with various artists, musicians and skate brands both nationally and internationally.
We believe that collaboration is key for the growth and development of skateboarding culture in Venezuela.
Thank you very much to the Skatezuela team for telling us about their wonderful project, I invite you to visit their social networks.
