Today we are sharing with Rafael, creator of the musical project ‘Radio Macoña’, he tells us more in depth what it is about. Enjoy it!
Astrid: Since when did you decide to make beats?
Rafael: In September 2022 I’ll be doing Beats for 13 years, so I’m close to my musical puberty.
Astrid: Tell us about your projects, when were they born and for what purpose?
Rafael: Honestly, I’m a pretty impulsive person when it comes to music, so to tell you that I had a goal beyond wanting to do something I wanted to do at the time, would be to lie to you. So it has been with all my projects, from the albums to the sample pack, everyone was born to have the idea, to see the possibility of being done and that’s it, I did it. I guess the goal is always to surprise people and always keep me uncomfortable for doing things I’ve never done before, and that’s been a fuel for my creativity.
Astrid: When was the first time an artist used one of your beats?
Rafael: Look, the rapper’s name I don’t remember (sorry) but the song is called “Champion Sound” and if you find it, please pass it to me
Astrid: How many musical projects have you been in since your inception?
Rafael: No idea, but more than 20? I should count them.
Astrid: What is your inspiration when creating?
Rafael: Life. Usually things that happen to me, conversations, songs that I listen to on the street or at home, records that come to me for some reason or another (greetings to all those people who are in the world of diggin), how is my health is at that moment and that.
Astrid: What format to collect music do you like the most, in terms of vinyl, cassettes, CDs, etc?
Rafael: I love vinyl but I like them all. As long as you have a way to listen to and record them, all beautiful.
Astrid: Any reference artists?
Rafael: J Dilla, Pete Rock, Q-FX, Doktor Rheal, DJ Battlecat, Roger Troutman, Quincy Jones and many more but those are the ones I can think of right now.
Astrid: How many artists have you worked with? Can you name them?
Rafael: There are too many hahaha, many have not released the music, and others have, but most of your favorite rappers in Venezuela.
Astrid: What is the musical genre you enjoy the most?
Rafael: That’s very difficult to answer, I like many genres, but today it’s synth funk, although tomorrow it may be another.
Astrid: Would you do this for the rest of your life?
Rafael: Hopefully, as long as I can, yes.
Thanks to Rafael for allowing me to conduct this interview, I invite you to follow him on your networks and take a closer look at his work.
