A few years after the album “Truth”, which was very well received in Poland and abroad, hundreds of performances in clubs and at the biggest Polish festivals, MANOID releases another single and announces the second album – “I_N_T_E_R_V_A_L”. In the project, the artist talks about moments of “stopping”, the gaps between the end and the beginning, the new and the old.
On February 14, Valentine’s Day, “Love Letter” was released – the second single promoting the upcoming album. The chorus of this moving love song, sung by transgender artist Pat Dudek (Milkbaby), resounds the words: “All I need is your love.”
Maybe it’s just teasing. The artists themselves are looking for answers, asking questions: How to make it with love in a violent reality, when there is neither time nor strength? Will love save us when life’s turbulence comes sooner than we expect? Does love save us in a crisis, or does the crisis save love? Or maybe ordinary still shames us too much to bring ourselves to it?
The sound of the song is based on the slow, heavy rhythm of drum machines and analog synthesizers, enriched with precise, spatial sound design and an unusual arrangement. Earworm, sonic acupuncture.
The piece had its premiere during the screening of the film “Endless” (dir. Wojciech Puś) at the 54th International Film Festival Rotterdam.
