Musik Gewinnt Freunde started and released their first vinyl under their name over six years ago.
The latest release, from July this year, which can boast a label from Hamburg, is a compilation consisting predominantly of the works of Kollektiv Turmstrasse. These are original versions of the compositions or their remixes, which did not appear on any of the duo's full-length albums. A publishing house that tells us the story of a small label through sounds. A label that was created to transform emotions into music and reach as many people sensitive to it as possible.
In fact, it all started in 2006 with the acquaintance, later friendship of two producers – Christian Hilscher and Nico Plagemann (forming as a duo Kollektiv Turmstrasse). The gentlemen decided to deal with the distribution of electronic music. Interestingly, at the very beginning they did not really know whether this project would develop and if so, in what direction it would go. It was only after some time that the idea began to crystallize, take shape and a modest, but extremely coherent label was created. The name of the label hides the essence, what guided its creators when they began to implement their initially blurred visions. Musik Gewinnt Freunde was supposed to be a place to meet, make new friends, inspire each other and motivate for further development. The idea was to create an environment in which, through passion for creating electronic music, not only wonderful songs would be created, but also unique interpersonal bonds.
While the issue of the relations of individual people working in the label will remain a mystery to us, as listeners we can assess everything that thanks to Musik Gewinnt Freunde appeared in the musical space. The latest album of Kollektiv Turmstrasse is a position that I recommend not only to fans of this duo, but also to all those who have not yet had contact with music referred to as microhouse. I think that if you listen to the "Musik Gewinnt Freunde Collection" you will automatically feel the need to get acquainted with the rest of the label's achievements.
Attract a listener and not release it anymore – probably every label would like this to be the result of the release of the jubilee compilation. However, not everyone succeeds. Fortunately, Musik Gewinnt Freunde stood up to the task and with its latest compilation invites us to a world that is really hard to leave. Try. Maybe it will charm you.
