Get Lucky

Remember, Daft Punk recently released a new album “Random Access Memories”? There was such an easily catchy song on it, with a rather uncomplicated text – Get Lucky. You’ve probably heard a few times on the radio this summer. Apparently nothing, another piece of which many. And yet…

After a long break I finally got to Youtube and, as I usually do, I started to search for different flavors. That’s how I got my hands on a cover of this track. Dozens, actually. A few of them made a huge impression on me, such as the Cat Delphi version in a great, atmospheric arrangement for the piano.

Songs like Get Lucky always make me realize the power of music. Unlimited power in breaking down barriers and uniting people. As you can see, Get Lucky is more than a hit of one season. It has something that moves the masses at every latitude, although it is difficult to determine what it is. One thing is certain, in any arrangement it sounds good.

From Iceland to Tunisia, from Argentina to Antigua and Barbados. Bass players and keyboardists. Accordionists and guitarists. Rastamans and metalheads. Howlers and real, undiscovered talents. All of them, connected by some mystical thread of understanding, knock out what they can on these few sounds and, shouting the chorus happily, rock out.

Some covers surprise with their panache, one would even like to say productions. I recommend Get Lucky in Spanish with Argentinian gauchos! You will find a good vocal in Maria Zouroudis’ version (be patient, it’s worth it) and a good version for Friday’s mash-up party with the Bee Gees.

The Tunisian version played on oud with characteristic motifs for the music of Arab countries is also great. As someone wrote in the comment until you want to jump on a camel and walk in the desert!
