These are good times for musicians. The multitude of services that allow you to share your own music should facilitate the promotion and start of new bands.
Should. Instead, from posters, popular portals or intrusive browser pop-ups, we are bombarded with brain-lasing smea. Really good musicians usually stay in the shadows and are appreciated only by a handful of loyal fans. These are bad times for musicians.
Gavin Harrison and 05Ric are an extraordinary duo. Harrison, the drummer of Porcupine Tree, author of Rhythmic Illusions and Rhythmic Perspectives, and recently a drummer in the reactivated King Crimson, decided to join forces with the bass player hiding under the pseudonym O5Ric, who decided that a simple bass was not enough for him. After a little consideration, he decided that his main instrument would be an extended-range bass, accompanied by a chapman stick. Thanks to these monsters, he was finally able to realize all his twisted musical visions.
The collaboration resulted in the recording of three albums: Drop (featuring Robert Fripp), Circles and The Man Who Sold Himself. The music played by the band can be described as a mix of jazz fusion and progressive rock, characterized by original vocal harmonies and a complicated rhythm section. The way 05Ric conducts his voice is also original. If singing were a creature, one could say that staggering he came out of a labyrinth full of twisted corridors. But thanks to this, it fits perfectly into the crazy musical background.
The group will visit Polish in November (15.11 Krakow, 16.11 Opole, 17.11 Wrocław) on the occasion of Drum Fest. A must for every lover of extravagant gaming.
