Iceland – cut off from the rest of the world by ocean water, the island has always been an enigmatic place, associated with vast, shocking landscapes.
It would seem that this distant country should be an ideal place for many prolific artists inspired by scenery taken straight from Norse mythology. Therefore, it is a strange phenomenon that the land that has produced musicians such as Björk or Sigur Rós is on the fringes of the musical map of the world.
The latest phenomenon in Iceland is Ásgeir. Born in 1992, melodic folk guitarist and vocalist Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson is becoming an increasingly recognizable face on the Icelandic scene. His debut album “Dýrð í dauðaþögn” was very warmly received by critics and listeners, which was confirmed by six weeks at the top position of Tónlist. The unexpected success made Ásgeir decide to release the album entirely in English. Its title will be “In the Silence”, and the album will be complemented by a bonus composition “Soothe This Pain”. The album promises to be very promising and has the ambition to aspire to the best premiere of the month. The official single “King and Cross” is now available on iTunes.
