From a musical point of view, Norway was usually associated with stronger metal genres, difficult to decipher bands' logos, or vocals similar in sound to the sounds made by a rusty chainsaw.
However, after a closer look at the trends prevailing in this country, I abandoned all previous prejudices. And all this primarily because of the Airbag team. Founded by schoolmates from Oslo, Airbag is one of the most interesting phenomena on the contemporary artistic rock scene. The roots of the band date back to 1994, when five young Norwegians created a project that dealt with playing covers of well-known prog-rock bands (mainly Pink Floyd).
Over the years, the first ideas related to purely original material began to appear in the minds of musicians, which resulted in the release of the 2004 EP Come On In and the following Sounds That I Hear (2006) and Safetree (2008). The compositions included on the mini albums were made available free of charge on the Internet and enjoyed such popularity (230,000 downloads within a few months) that in 2009 the band was accepted under the wings of the Norwegian label Karisma Records. In the same year, the debut LP Identity appeared on the market, gaining considerable recognition among critics. Released two years later, All Rights Removed topped numerous music toplists and was named the best progressive release of the year. The latest child of the five Norwegians is the high-scoring album The Greatest Show On Earth.
Airbag will perform in May at two concerts – 24.05 in Warsaw's Progresja and 25.05 in Krakow's Studio Club. Tickets can be purchased at this address.
